IllustrationSteamed Pork Belly Rolls with Tomato and Perilla
Stir-fried & braised · serves 4
How many servings?
How to make it
- 1
Lay a slice of shaved pork belly out flat, set 1 perilla leaf and 1 to 2 cherry tomatoes on it, and roll it up.
- 2
Line a steamer or a pot with green onion, garlic, and the like, and set the rolls on top.
- 3
Mix the soy sauce, matsul, minced garlic, and water into a sauce and spoon it over.
- 4
Cover and steam over medium-low heat for 10 to 15 minutes.
- 5
It is done once the tartness of the tomatoes has soaked through.
You can fix this
If it hasn't burned or stuck to the pan, it can still be fixed.
- Too salty? Do not add water — it thins the sauce. Add more radish, potato, or onion instead and let them take up the salt.
